Update 1 -
A sunny and hot 'Hi' to all my actual and prospective Kellymanjaro supporters. Thanks so much for being there, and for showing your support by donating. The donations and messages to date are really heart warming, motivating, and greatly appreciated. Thank you. You are brilliant 🤩.
In keeping with my promise to provide periodic updates, here's the first.
For me, it reintroduces that journalistic state of mind that I first found on Mistyhodag - the Winnebago RV we had for 7 years in the USA - touring the National Parks. Now, after 8 years lapse in time since my DreamCatcher circumnavigation posts, going through this process kicks my brain into publishing update mode. I hope that, as my preparations progress, you find the content of some mild interest and amusement as I marshal these aged, arthritic bones, wishy-washy brain cells, and knackered ligaments into an erudite mountain conquering frame with sinews of steel and muscles of burnished muffin.
(Embarrassed cough)
Now, as everyone knows, in order to achieve anything worthwhile in life, you've gotta start by looking like you mean it.
That means wearing fashion fit for life as a mountain trekker.
Kidney Research were kind enough to give me 2 (not just the promised 1) of their technical Tee shirts, and I bought a few more plain ones, plus a pack of A4 special inkjet printer 'transfer paper', so that I could modify and print some stock pics of Mt Kili and iron them onto the tees (while Maggie was out!)
Result?.....see the pic below, and tadah.......bespoke advertising on the walking, talking, fit-getting, sweat-pouring billboard that is me.
(Please note that the socks actually match the stripes in the laces of my, soon to arrive, super new boots. David Beckham? Model icon?.....eat your heart out!)
Obviously, as the song should go ……’When the going gets tough, the not-so-tough go shopping’
More on that L8ters……….
Stay cool 🤟

PS Say hello to Freya, who I hope will join me on some of, if not all, my preparatory treks. She's 9, so I'll need to be careful how hard and how far I go each session at a time. It'll be good practice for when 'slow and steady' will be key.
